A (des)politização do futebol nas narrativas sobre a Copa na Argentina de 1978

Considerando o ambiente intelectual, político e esportivo dos anos 70, o presente artigo analisa algumas narrativas em torno da realização da Copa do Mundo de Futebol na Argentina, em 1978. Imprensa e partidos políticos de esquerda são os discursos priorizados na análise. A partir da relação futebol, história e política, o artigo problematiza a tensão entre uma visão racional e objetiva dos discursos políticos e a passionalidade imposta pelo futebol. Os ambientes são os confrontos intelectuais e políticos na Argentina e na França, de onde se propagava um movimento internacional de boicote à realização da Copa do Mundo.

Considering the intellectual, political and sportive environment of the 70’s, this article analyzes some narratives around the realisation of the Football World Cup in Argentina, in 1978. The narratives found in the media and in left-wing political parties are those prioritized in the analysis. Based on the relation between football, history and politics, the article problematizes the tension between a rational and objective vision of political discourses and the passion imposed by football. The environments are the intel-lectual and political confrontations in Argentina and in France, where an international movement of boycott to the World Cup spread from.
