Backup Butembo

Deze bijzondere documentaire vertelt het verhaal van buitengewoon sterke vrouwen in Oost-Congo. De regio is al ruim 15 jaar het strijdtoneel van een bloedig conflict. In de stad Butembo groeit een positief verzet. De bevolking probeert de controle over haar lot en leven terug te krijgen. Wanneer het geweld in en rond Butembo toeneemt, kijken de inwoners niet langs de zijlijn toe. Ze lopen het gevaar soms letterlijk tegemoet.

‘Backup Butembo’ tells the incredible story of a group of particularly strong women in Eastern Congo. Fifteen years ago a bloody conflict broke out here that to this day is terrorizing the region. In the city of Butembo, however, positive resistance is taking form. The population tries to take back control over their own lives and fate. When violence rears its ugly head in Butembo the inhabitants strike back. No danger can keep them at the side-line!
