Futebol no Brasil: sentidos e formas de torcer

Neste trabalho, analisam-se aspectos do discurso futebolístico no Brasil que dizem respeito à prática de torcida. O material de pesquisa se constituiu de entrevistas, relatos e materiais presentes em diferentes instâncias virtuais (sítios de relacionamento, jornais online e sítios de torcidas organizadas). Abordam-se, entre outros aspectos, a relação futebol-cidade, o funcionamento das torcidas organizadas e os processos de identificação social.

This paper analyzes some aspects of the football discourse in Brazil. The focus is on the opinions of supporters and fans of different teams and clubs and on the discursive practice of supporting them. Interviews and written material collected from different virtual sources (football websites, virtual communities of football teams and online newspapers) have been analyzed. The relation between the city and the sport, the mechanism of the fan clubs of the football teams and the processes of social identification are some of the aspects discussed in the paper.
