Marcas de uma história, marcas do futebol: o Football Club Esperança

Este artigo pretende analisar o desenvolvimento das atividades futebolísticas na cidade de Novo Hamburgo, estado do Rio Grande do Sul, o mais meridional do Brasil. Para tanto, analisar-se-á a trajetória histórica do Football Club Esperança, uma das principais agremiações futebolísticas dessa localidade. Pretende-se ainda, tecer uma pequena comparação com o seu arquirrival, o Sport Club Novo Hamburgo, um pouco mais antigo e representativo de outro bairro, especificamente a região central da cidade.

This paper aims to analyze the development of soccer activities in the city of Novo Hamburgo, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the far south of Brazil. This is done by analyzing the historical path of Foot-Ball Club Esperança, one of the main soccer clubs in the city. The study also establishes a modest comparison between the club and its arch-rival, Sport Club Novo Hamburgo, which is slightly older and represented another neighborhood, namely the city center.
