As letras ao ritmo da bola: uma história da imprensa artístico-desportiva em Portugal

O jornalismo desportivo surgiu em Portugal no último quartel do século XIX, numa dinâmica que levaria à publicação de 940 periódicos desportivos entre 1875 e 2000. Este género de imprensa especializada englobou também uma relação especial entre cultura e desporto, assim como entre literatura e futebol. Entre o final do século XIX e os anos 40 do século XX publicou-se um vasto conjunto de jornais artístico-desportivos, por todo o País. A sua linha editorial englobava o mundo artístico e o desportivo, sendo um tipo de periódico destinado à leitura em família e à promoção de uma ideia de lazer na sociedade portuguesa.

The Portuguese sport press began in the last quarter of the XIX Century. Its dynamic was very high and between 1875 and 2000 were published 940 sport newspapers in Portugal. This specialized press involved also the relation between culture and sport, specially literature and football. Between the final of the XIX Century and the 40’s of the XX Century were published several “artistic-sportive” newspapers throughout Portugal. His editorial line mixed up the artistic and the sports spheres. It was a typical newspaper devoted to the family and to the promotion of an idea of leisure in the Portuguese society.
