It was one of the worst tragedies in the world of sport: for 96 Liverpool FC fans, the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield became a deadly trap on April 15, 1989, and 766 were injured. An overtaxed police force reacted incorrectly to the heavy crowd and allowed too many fans to press into two of the actual four Liverpool sectors. This moving documentary uses original surveillance camera footage to tell the story of how the tragedy occurred. It uses original documents to show how the police tried to cover up their own mistakes. It lets relatives have their say, who fought for justice for 27 years. And police officers on duty at the time, whose statements were subsequently falsified, also express their views.
