The director Corneliu Porumboiu takes us on a journey through his home town in Romania, to meet Laurentiu Ginghina. For him, football should be modified, simplified, freed from restrictions. The first time he realised that the rules were wrong he was still young and playing football during the summer holidays, when an opponent tackled him and he ended up with a fractured fibula. Now he is a bureaucrat who talks about his new version of the game with his friend Porumboiu. His ideas to revolutionise football “by releasing the ball” do not seem to be a solution that can be applied in reality. However, perhaps they reflect that place within each of us, where no matter how tedious our life may be and no matter how many broken dreams weigh us down, there are no injuries or physical obstacles, we have no limits, we are infinite.
