‘La pelota sí se mancha’. La situación de los trabajadores migrantes huéspedes que construyeron los estadios del Mundial de Catar 2022

El objetivo del artículo es analizar diversas situaciones entrañadas por el nulo respecto a los derechos humanos de los trabajadores migrantes huéspedes que construyeron los estadios y demás infraestructura de movilidad en el Mundial de Catar 2022. Se trató de un Mundial polémico, por las contradicciones que entrañó en tanto megaevento deportivo de alcance transnacional. Con base en diversas publicaciones de medios de comunicación internacionales, el artículo detalla aspectos relativos a las condiciones laborales y de vida de estos migrantes provenientes de India, Pakistán, Nepal y otros países, así como el contexto respecto a las muertes acontecidas, y el papel de la Federación Internacional de Futbol Asociado (FIFA), el gobierno local, y otros actores involucrados.

The objective of the article is to analyze various situations entailed by the null respect of the human rights of the migrant guest workers who built the stadiums and other mobility infrastructure in the World Cup in Qatar 2022. It was a controversial World Cup, due to the contradictions that it entailed. as a mega sporting event of transnational scope. Based on various international media publications, the article details aspects related to the working and living conditions of these migrants from India, Pakistan, Nepal and other countries, as well as the context regarding the deaths that occurred, and the role of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), the local government, and other stakeholders.
