O lugar da memória no futebol escocês: as questões políticas e históricas entre Celtic e Rangers diante do falecimento da rainha Elizabeth II

Aos 96 anos de idade, faleceu a rainha Elizabeth II, a mais longeva da história e que governou o Reino Unido e os países da Commonwealth durante setenta anos. Dentre os países que compõem o bloco político, a Escócia é uma das nações que concentra uma série de movimentos separatistas que buscam a independência da Coroa e movimentos unionistas. Os grupos de nacionalistas a favor da manutenção do país no bloco e os nacionalistas contrários usam o futebol como foco de manifestações e expressões em memória à atuação política inglesa na Escócia desde a Idade Moderna. O Old Firm, clássico escocês entre Celtic Football Club e Rangers Football Club tem sua origem em 1888, mas suas raízes vêm desde a Reforma Protestante realizada por John Knox no país. O presente artigo busca analisar e destrinchar as reverberações e manifestações de Celtic e Rangers, junto com seus torcedores, diante do falecimento da monarca inglesa, buscando entender os discursos identitários e os sentidos de memória presentes nessas ações.

At the age of 96 years old, passed away Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-serving Queen in History who ruled the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth countries for 70 years. Among the countries that make up the political bloc, Scotland is one of the nations that concentrate a number of separatist movements seeking independence from the Crown and unionist movements. The nationalist groups in favor of keeping the country in the bloc and the nationalists against uses football as a focus for demonstrations and expressions in memory of the English political action in Scotland since the Modern Age. The Old Firm, the Scottish derby between Celtic Football Club and Rangers Football Club originated in 1888, but its roots go back to the Protestant Reformation carried out by John Knox in the country. The present article seeks to analyze and unravel the reverberations and manifestations of Celtic and Rangers, along with their fans, in the face of the death of the English monarch, seeking to understand the identity discourses and the meanings of memory present in these actions.
