‘Tudo em família com a Paz do Senhor’ – certa vez, no Estádio Salazar

Nossa contribuição visa a refletir sobre a relação entre futebol e política a partir da análise de três crônicas esportivas publicadas no Jornal dos Sports, em 01 de julho de 1968, no contexto da partida amistosa envolvendo a Seleção Brasileira e a Seleção Portuguesa, que celebrou a inauguração do Estádio Salazar, em Lourenço Marques (atual Maputo), então capital de Moçambique sob o domínio colonial ultramarino. Nosso corpus de análise é formado pelas seguintes crônicas: “Tudo em família com a Paz do Senhor”, de Zé de São Januário; “O melhor futebol do mundo”, de Nelson Rodrigues; “Uma forra gostosa”, de Jocelyn Brasil. A polifonia produzida por essas crônicas revela que o futebol, para além do campo esportivo, nem sempre está alheio ao contexto político.

Our contribution aims to reflect on the relationship between football and politics from the analysis of three sports chronicles published in the Jornal dos Sports on July 1, 1968, in the context of the friendly match involving the Brazilian National Team and the Portuguese National Team, which celebrated the inauguration of the Salazar Stadium in Lourenço Marques (now Maputo), the capital of Mozambique under the overseas colonial rule. Our corpus of analysis is formed by the following chronicles: “All in family with the Peace of the Lord”, by Zé de São Januário; “The best football in the world”, by Nelson Rodrigues; “A sweet revenge”, by Jocelyn Brasil. The polyphony produced by these chronicles reveals that football, beyond the sports field, is not always oblivious to the political context.
