Drawing from a varied set of sources, such as periodicals, police records, managerial reports, and interviews, this essay examines intensification of sporting life, particularly of the football, in the final stage of Portuguese colonialism in Angola (1950–1975), offering different approach possibilities. It also attempts to highlight the claims and struggles of Angolans in face of Portuguese colonialism within this new sporting ambience, as well as different controlling strategies by colonial authorities and Portuguese repression agencies.
